Deepening your Journey
You've said yes to Jesus. You've recognised His love, His truth, His call on your life.
What
Happen's
Next?
Whether this is your first encounter with Him or you are returning after time away, you might be feeling a great many things right now. Joy. Relief. Uncertainty. Excitement. Perhaps all of them at once, tangled together.
Now comes the beautiful part. Learning to walk with Him daily, growing deeper in your relationship with Him, and discovering what it means to live as His beloved child.
You Don't Have to Figure It All Out Today
The beautiful truth is this. Your journey with Jesus is not about getting everything right straight away. It is about walking with Him, day by day, as He changes you from the inside out.
You do not need to have all the answers. You do not need to understand everything about the Bible, or theology, or what Christian living is meant to look like. You simply need to stay close to the One who found you, the One who called you by name, the One who loves you exactly as you are.
Paul wrote to the believers in Philippi with a confidence worth holding onto.
For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work among you will complete it by the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:6
God has begun something in you, and He is committed to finishing it. Your part is not to be perfect. Your part is to stay in relationship with Him.
You're Not Expected to Be Perfect
Following Jesus does not mean you suddenly become flawless. You will still make mistakes. You will still have questions. You will still wrestle with old habits and meet new challenges.
But here is what has changed. You are not alone anymore, and you are not defined by your failures. When you stumble, you have a Father who lifts you up. When you are confused, you have the Holy Spirit to guide you. When you are weary, you have Jesus inviting you to rest in Him.
Paul put it as plainly as it can be put.
Therefore there is now no condemnation at all for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Romans 8:1
The guilt is gone. The shame is lifted. You stand before God not because you are perfect, but because Jesus has made you righteous. That changes everything.

Your First Steps as a Believer
When you say "yes" to Jesus, He begins a gentle work of transformation in your heart, changing you from the inside out in ways both small and profound.
When you say yes to Jesus, He begins a gentle work in your heart, changing you from the inside out in ways both small and profound. Your new life with Him starts with simple, everyday steps. Nothing complicated. Nothing overwhelming. Just steady, faithful connection with the One who loves you.
1. Talk to God Daily
You do not need fancy words. Just talk to Him the way you would talk to someone you love. Tell Him about your day. Ask Him for help. Thank Him. He is listening, and He draws near to everyone who calls on Him honestly (Psalm 145:18).
2. Read God's Word
The Bible is God speaking to you. A good place to begin is the Gospel of John, which will help you come to know Jesus. Read a little each day, even if it is only a few verses. His Word is like a lamp held to your feet, lighting the path in front of you and showing you where to step next (Psalm 119:105).
3. Find Other Believers
You were never meant to walk this road alone. Look for a church, or a gathering of believers who love Jesus and teach faithfully from the Bible. Scripture warns us not to drift away from meeting together, as some have fallen into the habit of doing, but to keep encouraging one another, all the more as we see the day of the Lord drawing near (Hebrews 10:25).
What if I cannot find the right church?
It is alright to take your time. Look for a place where the Bible is taught clearly, where Jesus is the centre, and where people genuinely care for one another. You may need to visit a few before you find where you belong. And if you are the only believer among your friends or family just now, remember that God sees you and will bring the right people into your life at the right time. We are meant to spur one another on towards love and good works (Hebrews 10:24).
4. Learn and Grow
Whether you are brand new to this faith or returning after time away, there is always more to discover. Take your time learning who God is, what He has done for you, and how to live this new life. We have built pages like Journey Through the Pages and Foundations of Faith to help you understand the foundations of your relationship with God.
5. Give Yourself Grace
Transformation takes time. Be gentle with yourself. Celebrate the small victories. When you fall, get back up. God is not frustrated with your pace. He is delighted that you are walking with Him at all.

Navigating Your New Life:
Questions You Might Be Asking
As you begin this journey, your mind will naturally start processing what this all means for your daily life.
As you begin, your mind will naturally start working through what all of this means for your daily life. Here are some of the questions young believers often wrestle with, and a little wisdom to help you find your way.
How Do I Make Decisions Now?
Following Jesus does not mean you lose your ability to think or to choose. It means you gain a new compass. When you face a decision, large or small, you can now ask yourself whether it lines up with what God says is good, whether it draws you closer to Him or pulls you away, and whether it helps you love God and love others better.
Start with prayer. Ask God for wisdom. Read His Word. Talk to believers you trust. Then decide with confidence, leaning on Him rather than on your own understanding, trusting that He is making your path straight even when you cannot see far ahead (Proverbs 3:5-6).
What About My Old Life and Relationships?
This is one of the hardest parts. Your friends might not understand. Your family might be confused, or even opposed. You might feel caught between two worlds.
Here is the truth. Some relationships will change. Some people will not understand your decision to follow Jesus, and that is painful. But you do not have to cut everyone off, or become someone unrecognisable. You can still love people, still spend time with them, still be yourself. What has shifted is your priorities. As far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone (Romans 12:18).
Be patient with those who do not understand. Show them the love of Jesus through your actions and not only your words, and trust that God will bring new friendships into your life, people who will encourage you and walk this road alongside you,

What If I Mess Up?
You will. Let's be honest about that. You're going to make mistakes. You're going to sin again. There will be days when you feel like you're failing at this whole "following Jesus" thing.
What If I Mess Up?
You will. Let us be honest about that. You are going to make mistakes. You are going to sin again. There will be days when you feel like you are failing at this whole business of "following Jesus” thing.
But here is what you need to know. Messing up does not disqualify you. It does not mean God is finished with you. It does not erase your salvation. When you fall, bring it to Him. Confess it honestly, and He is faithful and just to forgive you and to wash you clean (1 John 1:9). Receive His forgiveness. Learn from it. Keep moving forward. Growth is not about perfection. It is about progress, and you are being changed day by day.
How Do I Handle Doubt?
Doubt is not the opposite of faith. Even the strongest believers have their moments of questioning, moments when they wonder whether any of this is real.
If you find yourself doubting, do not panic, and do not hide it. Bring your doubts to God. He is not afraid of your questions. There is a moment in the Gospels where a desperate father cries out to Jesus that he believes, and in the same breath begs Jesus to help him in his unbelief (Mark 9:24). That honest, divided heart is one Jesus meets with tenderness. Ask Him to strengthen your faith. Talk to other believers about what you are wrestling with. Keep reading the Bible, even when it feels hard. Keep praying, even when it feels as though no one is listening. Doubt, when you wrestle with it honestly rather than bury it, can actually deepen your faith.
What About the Hard Questions?
You might be wondering about things like what becomes of people who never heard about Jesus, why God allows suffering, or how to reconcile your faith with the injustice you see in the world.
These are big questions, and they do not come with easy answers. But here is what you can hold onto. God is good. God is just. God is love. He sees everything you see, and He cares about suffering and injustice more deeply than you ever could. He reminds us that His thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways, that as high as the heavens are above the earth, so far above ours are His ways and His thinking (Isaiah 55:8-9). You do not have to have every answer right now. Part of faith is trusting God with what you do not yet understand. Keep seeking. Keep asking. Keep learning. It is alright to say, I do not know, but I trust God anyway.
Where Do I Find Answers When I Am Stuck?
When you are confused, or struggling, or simply in need of direction, there are a few places to turn.
The first is God's Word. The Bible is your primary source of truth and guidance. When you are stuck, open it and let God speak to you through it. The second is prayer. Talk to God about whatever you are facing and ask Him for wisdom, clarity and peace. The third is other believers. Find people who are further along in their faith and ask them your questions. Learn from what they have lived through. Let them walk alongside you.
There are also trusted resources, books and websites and teachings, that can help you grow. Look for ones that always point you back to the Bible and help you understand it more deeply, including this site. Your task is to stay close to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to understand the reason for His Son, and to be filled with the Holy Spirit of God, who gives you the wisdom to discern between right and wrong, good and bad, whether to turn to the left or to the right. The Holy Spirit is the One who reveals the things God has for you as you read His Word, which is itself breathed out by God and useful for teaching, for correction and for training you in what is right, so that you are fully equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

What You Might Begin to Notice
As you walk with Jesus, you will begin to notice changes. Some dramatic, some so quiet you almost miss them. They will not all arrive at once, and they will not look the same for everyone, but they will come.
You might find a peace you have never known, even when your circumstances are hard. You might find freedom from guilt that has haunted you for years. You might notice joy bubbling up in unexpected moments, or old relationships beginning to heal. Perhaps you will find courage to face fears that once paralysed you, or wisdom for situations that used to leave you confused. You might sense God's presence in ways you never imagined, or find yourself caring about people you would once have walked straight past.
These changes are not things you manufacture or force. They are not about trying harder or doing more. They are the natural fruit of God's presence in you, working from the inside out. Do not let the world around you press you into its mould. Instead, let God renew the way you think, and you will begin to recognise what His good and pleasing and perfect will really looks like (Romans 12:2).
You Are Being Made New
Every shift you notice, every moment you realise you are no longer who you used to be, is a sign of something Scripture calls becoming a new creation. You are not simply improving. You are being remade, reformed, renewed.
This is God's work in you. He is the One making these changes. He is the One healing what was broken, restoring what was lost, and revealing who you were always meant to be. Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation altogether. The old has gone, and the new has come (2 Corinthians 5:17).

You're Not Alone
This journey won't always be easy. You'll have questions. You'll face doubts. You might even face opposition from people who don't understand your decision.
This journey will not always be easy. You will have questions. You will face doubts. You might even meet opposition from people who do not understand your decision.
But hold onto this.
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39
Nothing, nothing, can take you out of His hands.
You're home now. And we're so glad you're here.
As you keep walking with Jesus, you will discover even more beautiful changes unfolding in your life. There is so much more waiting for you in the pages ahead, in Moments of Change.
