Path to Faith: Understanding Your Journey with Jesus

Your journey of faith is a beautiful path. One that begins with an encounter, your Jesus encounter. Allow that to unfold to a lifetime of discovery of love and transformation.

Your Story Matters

You're here because something happened like lightning striking your heart! Or was it like the gradual breaking of dawn after a long night. However you came to Jesus, your path to faith is uniquely yours and it's worth understanding.

Whether you recently encountered Jesus for the first time or have rediscovered Him after years away, this page is designed to help you reflect on your journey:

How did you come to Christ?

Why did you choose to follow Jesus?

And what does it mean for you to be a new believer or a returning one?

Let's explore your story together.

How Did You Come to Christ?

Every person's path to Jesus is different. Some are dramatic. Some are quiet. Some might take years. Some happen in a moment.

Take a moment to reflect on your own journey:

The Unexpected Encounter

Did Jesus show up when you least expected Him? You weren't even looking for Him. Maybe you were searching, chasing spiritual experiences, or walking through darkness, and suddenly, there He was.

He is the Shepherd who left the ninety-nine sheep to search for the one that's lost.

"What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the pasture and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it?"

Luke 15:4

Jesus pursues those who don't even know they're lost yet. He doesn't wait for you to clean yourself up or figure it all out first. He comes into your confusion, your rebellion, even your involvement in things that were dangerous and dark. He finds you there.

Reflect: Think back to that moment when everything shifted. When did you first sense that God wasn't just a distant idea, but Someone actively pursuing you? What were the circumstances of your life when Jesus stopped being a concept and became real?

The Gentle Tug You Couldn’t Ignore

Your journey to Jesus wasn't marked by a single dramatic moment. It was more like a thread being gently pulled through the fabric of your life; small encounters that seemed insignificant at first, but together formed an undeniable pattern.

A conversation with a stranger that touched something deep inside you. A Scripture verse you stumbled across that felt like it was written specifically for you. An inexplicable peace in the middle of chaos, a peace too pure, too real to be from this world.

You heard about Jesus through a friend, a co-worker, or even a whisper in your spirit (the Holy Spirit, you now know). Not religion. Not rules. Not traditions. Just Jesus.

A God who loved you even in your mess. A Saviour who died for people like you; wounded, rebellious, lost.

Each small encounter was God's way of drawing you closer, like breadcrumbs leading you home. And one day, you looked back and realised: He had been there all along, patiently calling your name.

Consider: What were those "small moments" in your journey? Can you see the pattern now, the way God was weaving circumstances, people, and encounters together to bring you to Him? Who or what did God use to reach you?

The Dream, the Vision, the Supernatural

You came to Jesus because you had nowhere else to go. Life fell apart. The things you trusted failed you. You were searching for answers but found only emptiness, confusion, and fear.

And in that emptiness, you finally heard His voice:

"Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

Matthew 11:28

Reflect: What circumstances brought you to the point of surrender?

What were you searching for that only Jesus could provide?

Why Did You Choose to Follow Jesus?

Knowing how you came to Christ is essential. But understanding why you said yes is just as crucial. What was it about Jesus that made you decide to follow Him?

Because You Recognised Truth

You heard the Gospel, the story of God's love, Jesus' sacrifice, and the offer of forgiveness, and something profound within you said, This is true. You couldn't explain it, but you knew.

"Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

John 8:32

Reflect: What truth about Jesus convinced you?

Was it His love? His sacrifice?

His power?

His promise of forgiveness?

Fog and Nature

Because You Were Tired of Running

You chose Jesus because you were exhausted from trying to save yourself. You'd tried everything else; self-help, distractions, control, and nothing worked.

You finally realised: You needed a Saviour.

"For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast."

Ephesians 2:8-9

Consider: What were you running from? What made you finally stop and surrender to Jesus?

Because You Encountered His Love

What drew you to Jesus was His love. Not judgment. Not condemnation. Not shame. Just love.

He didn't wait for you to be worthy. He didn't require you to clean up your life first. He loved you right where you were, broken, messy, lost, and He called you His own.

"But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

Romans 5:8

Think about:

When did you first feel the love of Jesus?

How did His love change your view of yourself and your past?

Because You Wanted Freedom

What drew you to Jesus was His love. Not judgment. Not condemnation. Not shame. Just love.

He didn't wait for you to be worthy. He didn't require you to clean up your life first. He loved you right where you were, broken, messy, lost, and He called you His own.

"But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

Romans 5:8

Think about: When did you first feel the love of Jesus?

How did His love change your view of yourself and your past?

Because You Wanted Freedom

You chose Jesus because you were tired of being enslaved to sin, to guilt, to shame, to fear, to the past. You heard His promise and you wanted that freedom more than anything.

"So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."

John 8:36

Reflect: What do you need freedom from?

What chains is Jesus breaking in your life?

What Does It Mean for You as a Believer?

You've said yes to Jesus.

But what does that actually mean?

What changed?

What's different now?

You Are a New Creation

”Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come!"

2 Corinthians 5:17

This is the heart of what just happened to you. You are not just improved, you are made new. Your old identity, past sins, and guilt no longer define you. You now live with a new purpose and identity in Christ.

Not just repaired, but recreated. Something decisive and divine happened inside you. This is more than improving behaviours; it's a spiritual rebirth.

A fresh identity

Your primary identity is now "in Christ" rather than your past, your mistakes, or what others call you.

Inner transformation

The Holy Spirit begins to transform your desires, affections, and purposes, so you start to want what God wants.

Consider: How do you feel different?

What old parts of your life feel like they're passing away?

What new desires are emerging?

You Are Forgiven

When you gave your life to Jesus, every sin, past, present, and future, was forgiven. The guilt is gone. The shame is lifted. The condemnation is removed.

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

1 John 1:9

This doesn't mean you'll never struggle again. But it does mean the old power is broken and no longer has the last word over you.

Reflect: What does it feel like to be forgiven?

What are you letting go of?

You Are God’s Child

You didn't just gain a religion. You gained a Father. You are now part of God's family.

"Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God"

John 1:12

You belong now. You're loved. You're secure. Nothing can change that.

Think about: What does it mean to you to be called God's child?

How does that change how you see yourself?

You Have Eternal Life

This life isn't all there is. You now have eternal life, not just quantity of life, but quality of life that starts now and lasts forever.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

John 3:16

Reflect: How does knowing you have eternal life change your perspective on today? On your future?

The Holy Spirit Lives in You

You're not alone in this journey. God Himself, through the Holy Spirit, now lives inside you, guiding you, comforting you, and transforming you from the inside out.

"Do you not know that you yourselves are God's temple, and that God's Spirit dwells in you?"

1 Corinthians 3:16

Consider: Have you sensed the Holy Spirit's presence?

What does it feel like to know God is with you constantly?

Ready for What's Next?

You've reflected on your journey to Christ and discovered what it means to be His child. Now you might be wondering: what does life look like from here? How do I actually live this new life day by day?

Let's explore that together.

Nature

You're Not Alone

This journey won't always be easy. You'll have questions. You'll face doubts. You might even face opposition from people who don't understand your decision.

But remember this:

"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord"
Romans 8:38-39

Nothing, nothing, can take you out of His hands.

You're home now. And we're so glad you're here.
