Walking with God: The Son

Have You Seen Jesus Face to Face?

Maybe He came to you in a dream, spoke your name, or appeared in a vision that changed everything. If you've encountered Him, you've met the second person of the Trinity, fully God and fully man, the Saviour of the world.

Who Is Jesus?

Jesus is the eternal Son of God who took on human flesh. In Genesis, He was promised as the seed who would crush the serpent's head.

Genesis 3:15

The prophets spoke of His coming: born of a virgin, Isaiah 7:14, from the line of David, Jeremiah 23:5, in Bethlehem.

Micah 5:2

"The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth."

John 1:14

He lived a sinless life, taught with authority, performed miracles, and revealed the Father's heart to humanity. He said,

"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

John 14:6

Through His death on the cross, He paid the price for your sins, and through His resurrection, He conquered death and offered you eternal life. "But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

"For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures."

1 Corinthians 15:3-4

Jesus Is Your Everything

Jesus is your Saviour, Lord, and Redeemer. He reconciles you to the Father, intercedes for you at God's right hand, and is preparing a place for you in heaven.

"Therefore He is able to save completely those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to intercede for them."

Hebrews 7:25

"In My Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and welcome you into My presence, so that you also may be where I am."

John 14:2-3

He is Emmanuel, God with you, Matthew 1:23, and He promises to return in power to establish His eternal kingdom.

"Then I saw heaven standing open, and there before me was a white horse. And its rider is called Faithful and True. With righteousness He judges and wages war."

Revelation 19:11

The Jesus you encountered is real, and He came to you because He wants you to know Him.

People Who Met Jesus During His Earthly Ministry

You're not the first person to encounter Jesus face to face. People who met Him during His earthly ministry were never the same.

The disciples walked with Him, ate with Him, learned from Him, and witnessed His glory. John later wrote with wonder,

"That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have gazed upon and touched with our hands—this is the Word of life."

1 John 1:1

When Jesus Calls You Into Something Greater

Imagine Peter's moment on the Sea of Galilee. After a fruitless night of fishing, Jesus told him to let down his nets one more time. The catch was so overwhelming that the nets began to break.

Peter fell at Jesus' knees and said,

"Go away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man!"

Luke 5:8

But Jesus didn't leave. Instead, He called Peter into something greater:

"Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men."

Luke 5:10

One encounter with Jesus changed Peter's entire life. The same can happen for you.

When Jesus Sees You Completely

The woman at the well discovered that Jesus sees right through us, and He loves us anyway.

When Jesus revealed that He knew she had five husbands and was living with a man who wasn't her husband, she realised she was speaking with someone extraordinary.

"Sir, I see that You are a prophet."

John 4:19

When she asked about the coming Messiah, Jesus looked at her and said,

"I who speak to you am He."

John 4:26

She ran to tell her whole city,

"Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did! Could this be the Christ?"

John 4:29

Jesus knows everything about you, and He still chose to reveal Himself to you.

When Doubts Meet Reality

Thomas doubted the resurrection until Jesus appeared and invited him:

"Put your finger here and look at My hands. Reach out your hand and put it into My side. Stop doubting and believe."

John 20:27

Thomas fell to his knees:

"My Lord and my God!"

John 20:28

When you truly see Jesus, your doubts melt away.

After the Resurrection: He Stayed to Prove He's Alive

After Jesus rose from the dead, He didn't immediately disappear into heaven. He stayed and let people encounter Him, proving that death had no hold on Him.

He Speaks Your Name

Picture Mary Magdalene weeping in the garden, thinking someone had taken Jesus' body. Then He spoke her name. Just her name.

"Mary."

She spun around, recognition flooding through her:

"Rabboni!" (which means Teacher).

John 20:16

He knows your name too.

He Walks With You Before You Realise It's Him

Two heartbroken disciples walked towards Emmaus, discussing everything that had happened. A stranger joined them, explaining the Scriptures in a way that made their hearts burn within them.

When He broke bread with them,

"their eyes were opened and they recognized Him."

Luke 24:30-31

Sometimes Jesus walks with you before you realise it's Him.

He Never Gives Up on You

When Jesus appeared to the disciples in the upper room, showing them His hands and His side,

"the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord."

John 20:20

He breathed on them and said,

"Receive the Holy Spirit."

John 20:22

Later, He made them breakfast on the shore and restored Peter with the tender question repeated three times:

"Simon son of John, do you love Me?"

John 21:15-17

Jesus never gave up on Peter, and He hasn't given up on you.

Paul records that Jesus appeared to more than five hundred people at once.

1 Corinthians 15:6

He wanted everyone to know: I am alive, and I am real.

When Jesus Appears in Visions: Heaven Didn't Stop Him

After Jesus ascended to heaven, He continued reaching people through visions and supernatural appearances. Your encounter with Him puts you in good company.

The Persecutor Becomes the Missionary

Saul of Tarsus was hunting down Christians when

"suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, 'Saul, Saul, why do you persecute Me?'"

Acts 9:3-4

Saul asked who was speaking, and the answer changed everything:

"I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting."

Acts 9:5

One encounter with Jesus transformed this fierce persecutor into Paul, the greatest missionary the world has known.

Ananias also received a vision of Jesus, who told him exactly where to find Saul:

"Get up! Go to the street called Straight, to the house of Judas, and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying."

Acts 9:11

Even though Ananias was afraid, he obeyed the vision and became part of Saul's transformation.

The First Martyr Sees Jesus Standing

Stephen, as stones rained down on him,

"looked intently into heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God."

Acts 7:55

He cried out, "Look, I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!"

Acts 7:56

Notice that Jesus was standing, not sitting. He stood to receive His faithful servant home.

The Vision That Opened the Gospel to Everyone

Peter received a vision that changed everything he thought he knew. While praying on a housetop, he fell into a trance and saw heaven opened with a sheet descending, full of animals.

A voice said, "Get up, Peter, kill and eat." When Peter objected, the voice responded,

"Do not call anything impure that God has made clean."

Acts 10:13, 15

Through this vision, Peter understood that Jesus came for everyone, not just the Jews. The gospel is for you, no matter where you come from.

Jesus Speaks When You Need Him Most

Paul kept receiving visions of Jesus throughout his ministry.

In Corinth, when opposition threatened to silence him,

"the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: 'Do not be afraid; keep on speaking; do not be silent. For I am with you.'"

Acts 18:9-10

When Paul was imprisoned in Jerusalem,

"the following night the Lord stood beside Paul and said, 'Take courage! As you have testified about Me in Jerusalem, so also you must testify in Rome.'"

Acts 23:11

Jesus shows up in our darkest moments to remind us He's still with us.

The Most Glorious Vision of All

John received the most glorious vision of all on the island of Patmos. He saw "One like the Son of Man" whose

"face was like the sun shining at its brightest."

Revelation 1:13, 16

The sight was so overwhelming that John "fell at His feet like a dead man," but Jesus laid His right hand on him with words of comfort:

"Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last, the Living One. I was dead, and behold, now I am alive forever and ever!"

Revelation 1:17-18

This is the Jesus you've encountered. He is glorious, powerful, and tenderly personal all at once.

Jesus Comes in Dreams

Dreams have always been one of the ways Jesus reaches people. Joseph received direction through dreams about Mary and the baby Jesus.

Matthew 1:20, 2:13, 2:19-20

These dreams established that God still speaks this way in the New Testament era.

Today, Jesus continues to reveal Himself through dreams and visions, especially in places where people have never heard His name. Many people, particularly from different faith backgrounds, encounter Jesus in dreams before they ever meet a Christian or open a Bible.

If this is your story, you're part of an incredible move of God happening around the world. These supernatural encounters lead people to seek Jesus and ultimately come to faith.

It aligns perfectly with His promise:

"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you."

Matthew 7:7

He showed up in your dream because He wants you to know Him.

Your Heart's Response: Worship

Worship is not complicated. It's when you give your heart to Jesus and tell Him how much He means to you. It's deeply personal and unique to you.

Worship is what you do with your heart. It's private, personal, and something no one can take away from you. In the secrets of your heart, you worship Him who first loved you.

1 John 4:19

You can worship in public or in the privacy of your own room. You can worship in the silence of your heart or sing out loud in church. Worship lightens the heavy heart and clears the clouded mind, all because you choose to look at Him and surrender your love to Him.

It's the most natural response when you've truly encountered Jesus.

Why Worship Matters

Worship matters because it's your response to who Jesus is and what He's done for you. When you see Him clearly, when you understand His sacrifice, His love, His faithfulness, something rises up within you that must respond.

David wrote,

"I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise will always be on my lips."

Psalm 34:1

Jesus said the greatest commandment is to

"love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind."

Matthew 22:37

Worship is that love expressed. It acknowledges that He is worthy of all honour, glory, and praise. Worship shifts your focus from your circumstances to His character, from your weakness to His strength.

The apostle Paul, even while imprisoned, wrote,

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!"

Philippians 4:4

Worship transforms you because it fixes your eyes on the One who is unchanging in a world that constantly shifts.

Why We Worship Through Songs

Throughout Scripture, God's people have always expressed worship through song.

Moses and the Israelites sang after crossing the Red Sea.

Exodus 15:1-21

David poured out his heart in psalms of praise, declaring,

"Sing to the LORD a new song; sing His praise in the assembly of the godly."

Psalm 149:1

Paul encouraged believers to

"speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your hearts to the Lord."

Ephesians 5:19

Songs allow you to proclaim truth, remember God's faithfulness, and unite your heart with other believers. When you sing, you engage not just your mind but your emotions and spirit. Music has a unique way of embedding truth deep within you, so that in difficult moments, those songs rise up and remind you of who God is.

In Revelation, we get a glimpse of heaven where the redeemed sing a new song before the throne:

"Worthy are You to take the scroll and open its seals, because You were slain, and by Your blood You purchased for God those from every tribe and tongue and people and nation."

Revelation 5:9

You worship through song because it's the language of a grateful heart, the overflow of encountering the living God, and a foretaste of the eternal worship you will one day share in His presence.

So don't hold back. Let your heart sing to the One who came to find you.
